Video Training for Options: Manage Protection
Transcript and Screenshots for Options: Manage Protection
In this training, I will briefly explain the feature Manage Protection in the Options tab of Managenable® risk template software.
In the Options tab, the link towards the feature Manage Protection is available under the section Behaviour Management.
When you click on that link, you reach the section where you can enable or disable the feature.
The aim of this feature is to protect tabs from any unintentional change in the programming, formatting, and conditional formatting of cells.
Such an accidental change would occur when the tab is activated.
Therefore, this protection feature is only triggered when the tab is activated.
When a tab is not activated, it is not protected.
The protection this feature refers to, is the same as the Protect or Unprotect Sheet functionality available in the Menu, under the Review tab.
You can separately enable or disable this feature for data tabs…
… and for automation tabs.
In both cases, you can use or not use a password, if you want to; this is optional.
When this feature is enabled, each time a tab is activated and displayed on your screen, then, formatting and conditional formatting will not be available, and cells with formulas will be protected.
For example, when this feature is enabled, all cells with a formula cannot be accidentally modified.
It is recommended to keep this feature enabled, even without any password.
When this feature is disabled, each time a tab is activated and displayed on your screen, then, all cells are unprotected.
For example, when this feature is disabled, any cell with a formula can be changed.
It is not recommended to keep this feature disabled, unless you want to change formulas, formatting and conditional formatting.
To enable or disable this feature, simply click on the drop-down list and select the item you want.
If you need to paste cells from another workbook into this risk management tool, then you need to disable this feature, otherwise you will not be able to paste into the workbook.
And if you want to paste cells from another workbook into this risk management tool, you also need to disable the feature Manage Window Activation.
