Transcript and Screenshots for Overview: Interaction Register Tab
In this training, I will give you an overview of the Interaction Register tab, in Managenable® risk template software.
The Interaction Register tab is available from the Home tab, under the Dynamic section.
In the Interaction Register tab, you can record the connection of risks between themselves, and the influence they pass on through the connection.
This innovative methodology is very simple, yet very powerful.
From these risk interactions, the Interaction Analysis tab automatically displays a huge amount of plain-English color-coded analysis, which is particularly useful to deepen the understanding of all those risk interactions.
And the Interaction Maps tab displays, on demand, compelling maps showing those Risk Interactions.
For more information on the Interaction Analysis tab, and the Interaction Maps tab, please refer to the relevant training.
In the Options tab, under the Modules Management section, you can choose to show or hide the Interaction module.
Also, the Interaction Register tab is paired with the Interaction Parameters tab for the customization of drop-down lists, as well as for their color coding.
In the Interaction Register tab, the validity status of each record, and the overall register is available in the leftmost column.
The Interaction Register tab is an extension of the Risk Register tab.
Therefore, the first few columns of the Interaction Register tab are information extracted from the Risk Register tab.
Those columns are greyed, because any input or change in these columns can only occur in the Risk Register tab.
It is important to note that a risk must be Open to connect with other risks.
If the risk is Closed it is not possible to connect it with other risks.
The column Use Info in this Tab enables you, for each Risk ID, to choose if you want to use, or not to use, the features available in this Interaction Register tab.
The section Interaction Custom Lists is where you select an item in each Interaction Custom List which is activated.
For more information on the Options tab, on the Interaction Parameters tab, on Validity Status in Registers, on the column Use of Info in this Tab, and on the Use of Custom Lists, please refer to the relevant training.
The section Interaction Review is where you record key information related to the regular follow-up of risk Interactions: the date of last review, the reviewer’s name, the frequency of review, and the date for the next review.
The section Interaction Notes, is where you enter any comments you may want to add.
The section Interconnections is automatically calculated for you, based on the risk connections you select in other sections of this Interaction Register tab.
The column Interconnection displays the status of the Risk ID of the row: whether it is Interconnected, or Not Interconnected.
The column Connection From displays the list of Risk IDs connected in to the Risk ID of the row.
In other words, these risk connections influence the Risk ID of the row.
The column Connection To displays the list of Risk IDs connected out from the Risk ID of the row.
In other words, these risk connections receive some influence from the Risk ID of the row.
The section Connection #1 is where you select the 1st risk connection in to the Risk ID of the row.
The column Risk ID is where you select the Risk ID which connects in, and gives some influence to, the Risk ID of the row.
In other words, the Risk ID of the row is influenced by the Risk ID you select in this column.
The Risk ID you select must be a risk which is Open and not closed, and set to use information in this tab.
As soon as you select a Risk ID, the risk statement for this Risk ID is automatically displayed.
Also, the columns Lik Out and Cons Out are automatically updated for the Risk ID you selected.
These are the likelihood and consequence levels for the Inherent, Acceptable and Residual risk assessments of the Risk ID you selected.
These columns display the potential influence the Risk ID you selected may give out, to the Risk ID of the row.
However, you may want to correct these influences which are passed on from the Risk ID you selected, to the Risk ID of the row.
Indeed, the transfer of likelihood and consequence may not be that direct and linear.
The columns with the drop-down list enables you to apply any correction from +5 to -5.
However, before using this feature, it is recommended to become more familiar with the Interaction Analysis tab, which is where those corrections make a difference.
When you apply a correction, the columns Lik In and Cons In are automatically updated, if applicable.
These columns display the corrected potential influence the Risk ID of the row may receive in, from the Risk ID you selected.
You can select up to 10 such connections.
For each connection, the columns, how to understand and use them, is exactly the same.
In summary, the Interaction Register tab is where you record the connections of risks between themselves, as well as where you may correct the influences they pass on to such connections.
