In this training, I will give you an overview of the Interaction Maps tab in Managenable® risk template software.
The Interaction Maps tab is available from the Home tab, under the Profile section.
With this Interaction Maps tab, you can automatically create maps which display interactions between risks.
The map Focus on a Single Risk displays the influence of up to 10 risks on a single risk, as well as the interaction between those risks.
You can choose to show related information on the map, which provides you with an exceptional way to graphically explore, from various angles, the relationships between those risks.
Actually, the relationships between risks are defined in the Interaction Register tab…
… and extensive automated analysis is performed in the Interaction Analysis tab.
For more information on the Interaction Register tab, and the Interaction Analysis tab, please refer to the relevant training.
There are 3 ways to instantly create a new Interaction Map.
The first way to create a new Interaction map is to select a Risk ID to explore.
The second way to create a new Interaction map is to select an Information to Show on the Map.
You have the choice between 72 types of information to display on the map.
The most commonly used are the first 44.
Simply select the information you want to display on the current risk interaction map.
For example, we can choose, the number 16, which is for Risk Gap to Control.
This tells us what needs to be done on the risks to close the gap between the current and acceptable levels.
At the top of the map, the status Interaction Map with Risk Gap to Control is also displayed.
The third way to create a new risk Interaction map is to click on the button Refresh the Map.
This refreshes the risk Interaction Map for the current selection of Risk ID, and Information to show on the map.
In fact, when registers are updated, some information currently shown on the risk interaction map may become obsolete.
This risk application will warn you about this, and on the top of the map, the following message would be displayed: Map Refresh is Required: Select a Risk ID, or Information to Show, or Click on the Button.
Simply click on the button Refresh the Map, and the risk interaction map is instantly recreated.
The message telling you to refresh the map has disappeared, and the regular header is displayed.
Underneath the risk interaction map, you find a table which displays the list of Risk IDs shown on the map, with their Risk Statement.
This enables you to easily interpret the Risk Interaction map.
For each Risk ID, the current validity in the Interaction Register tab is also displayed.
You can show or hide this table.
In summary, the Interaction Maps tab enables you to create Risk Interaction Maps which greatly enhance your ability to visually grasp and explore the relationships between risks, as set in the Interaction Register tab.
