Video Training for Overview: Filters Tab
Transcript and Screenshots for Overview: Filters Tab
In this training, I will give you an overview of the Filters tab, in Managenable® risk template software.
In the Home tab, there is no links for the Filters tab.
You need to go to the Options tab to show or hide the Filters tab.
For more information, on how to show or hide tabs for Automation, please refer to the relevant training.
In the Filters tab, you can change the list of Filters which appear in the filter drop-down lists of the Data Filters section of tabs Preset Report, Risk Charts, Risk Matrix, Treatment Charts, Control Charts, KRI Charts, and Interaction Charts.
As an example, here is the Data Filters section of the Risk Matrix tab.
For more information on how Data Filters are used, please refer to the relevant training.
Filters are a powerful feature of this risk management application.
It is highly recommended to be familiar with this risk application, and specifically with the use of Presets, before changing anything in the Filters tab.
Actually, as it is mentioned in the title of this tab, it is better to not change anything, and to keep this tab with its default settings.
However, there are still a couple of reasons why you may want to intervene in the Filters tab.
One of these reasons could be if you would want to change the name of the Filters which appear in the drop-down lists of other tabs, as mentioned previously.
In such a case, simply change cells under the columns Source Tab, or Key Column in the Source Tab.
For example, the second filter was manually modified by altering Risk Status with Risk Status Just Changed.
The modification is immediately applied, with the new list of Filters made available throughout the application.
If the Filter you just modified applies to Presets already recorded in the Presets tab, this will trigger errors in that tab, since the name of the recorded filter does not match the new name of the same filter.
In this case, Just Changed is missing in the filters name.
You would have to manually change the relevant Filters appearing in that tab.
For more information on the Presets tab, please refer to the relevant training.
The other reason why you would manually intervene in the Filters tab is when in the Status tab, you would see errors related to the Filters tab.
The Status tab displays the IDs of the Filters where the errors are found.
In the Filters tab, the validity sign will also tell you immediately where the error is triggered.
Simply find it on the validity status column, or with the ID mentioned in the Status tab.
The error would be found under the Range Names to Use for both the Value Drop-down List and for Calculations.
A red arrow will tell you where the errors are located.
When you have found the errors, you would correct them.
There are several possible causes of errors in the Filters tab.
The main cause would be that related calculations are not properly refreshed.
Simply press F9 on your keyboard to refresh all calculations in the risk application.
To avoid similar errors in the future, you may consider activating the following features in the Options tab: Manage Calculation in Dependent Tabs, and, Manage Window Activation.
For more information on these features in the Options tab, please refer to the relevant training.
In summary, the Filters tab would be changed, mainly if the Status tab is mentioning errors located in the Filters tab.
However, these errors can be automatically addressed by activating some features in the Options tab.
For the regular use of this risk management tool, you do not have to do anything in the Filters tab.
